This is why CFR estimates are just bad right now. Neither the numerator nor the denominator are anywhere near accurate. its blind guessing.
Yes, but some have been praising China a lot lately despite that obvious reality.

Why? When you can crack open a beer and watch the world burn?
Largely from lag in testing... produced a false sense of security in some, no doubt
Hater is just larping. He'd never move there. It's 1984 there, basically.

And there's people who have such a hate boner for the US/West (apalosic), they'll back anything in spite.
it really is like ignoring the weather, and then looking outside at a tornado and thinking "well im prepared now"
See, this is the kind of that irritates me, and I'm sure the twitterati (33K comments) are up in arms about the US "leading the world."
A graph like this needs to be adjusted for per capita to have any use.
Hopefully we're as critical of out preparedness and response too
Big gov runs the race in a potato sack.
Iran is another country you can tell stopped reporting a long time ago... could be lack of infrastructure too.
By that metric China's was just a blip.
This. Also, in terms of deaths per capita, Germany and USA doing the best.
My same thoughts. There's other unaccounted variables too like testing availability or reporting honesty (China).
Sure. But I'm sure they're fudging the stats. I wonder just how much they really locked it down in Wuhan? Because if it got out to their other major cities, game over. We're lucky we 330 million spread out pretty good, New York and some other cities aside.
Yep. I think we're testing the most in the world right now.
So are you saying they should tone it down?
yup
anyone judging by reported numbers only is walking blind
Trying to Philo. It was a graph, and you know it.
Graphs like that, which have to do with number of cases, not deaths, are great to illustrate how the pandemic extends and doesn't forgive anybody. A great reminder why we have social distancing in place, and will have it for a while now.
If you take that as political bait, you have bigger problems.
