And that rate is?
And the mortality rate is much lower than previously reported.
And that rate is?
Even at 0.7% mortality this will be a huge disaster here if it's not drastically slowed by the warming temperatures of spring and summer. And while I'm very happy to hear 0.7% from a country doing a ton of testing, I do wonder if it might be a little low considering most people who test positive likely are in the early stages of infection due to the exponential growth of the virus.
Why would anyone try to downplay that?
Oh right, your love for Trump....
the same ethnic minority group hording basic necessities, is the same fkn dogs lining up at hospitals for free covit testing...fck i wish the govt would purge these fkn dogs of society, bunch of selfish ers
Yeah 0.7% for a virus whose infection rate is modeled at 40% to 70% is a huge number of dead Americans, like surprise nuking say Milwaukee or Salt Lake City. It probably doesn't get to that since warming temperatures should (hopefully) slow its transmission, but we don't know that for sure yet.
Anyone down to travel to Wuhan next week?
It's totally unsurprising that early estimates would be squishy. You have to have a lot of testing and diagnosis to get reliable numbers.
Too bad the USA slow walked testing and avoided containment.
Relax, that's only seven times as deadly as the flu pandemics of 1968 and 1957, which killed ~ 100,000 people each.
The true mortality rate doesn't care about politics.
But the infection rate is dependent on it.
The infection rate depends on individual behavior.

DarrinS doesn't understand what statistics mean, he just likes how they sound. For some reason a mortality rate of below 1% for a highly infectious disease that can be transmitted through the air sounds good to him.
https://amp.scmp.com/news/china/scie...tance-and-stayThe coronavirus that causes Covid-19 can linger in the air for at least 30 minutes and travel up to 4.5 metres –
Are you legit drunk again?
Are you seriously trying to argue everyone is an island when talking about infectious disease outbreaks?
Hopefully Trump declares martial law soon. Mandatory testing, mandatory quarantine for all.
No, but the rate of incidence does. Political measures can give the health care system a better chance by slowing down the case-rate. Look at St. Louis v Philly in 1919.
I know that 0.7 is almost 5x less than 3.4
You and Darrin are the only ones suggesting those measures, but maybe you're right. Maybe this is the emergency Trump needs to cancel the elections in November.
You just like the way that sounds.
Every normal human likes the way that sounds
Might be nice to have some kind of temporary unemployment setup for this pandemic so people with McJobs can self quarantine when sick instead of passing it on at the grocery store, McDonalds, in their uber, etc. LMAO that the Republican solution to slowing the growth of infections is moar tax cuts. Trump cutting the payroll tax is really going to incentive hourly workers to stay home instead of paying rent and eating right?
What are you suggesting?
Tests were offered today in SA
They were refused
What is your solution?
