Really just need to prevent China dumping to completely take over entire markets. This is the beginning of the end of China's most favored nation status imo.
Don't see it myself. Too much money to be made here from Chinese peasants' suffering over there.

Detaching from China is a necessity tbh. We don't necessarily need it to be manufactured in the US but a country in the Americas that we can bully at the very least. Of course USA Made is preferable.

They are still having some NCAA basketball games with fans for some reason. Is it stupid to go to one?

Just got our first confirmed cases in my neck of the woods. Talk of already killing off the St. Paddy's Day outdoor "pub crawl"/ beer fest this weekend.

So you think one week or two?
Maybe for the panic. Maybe much sooner as I do believe it's here in the SA community now.

For healthcare system to be overwhelmed down here it will be longer 6-8 weeks I think unless high temps give us some relief.

Italy must have a different strain, 1st world healthcare and they are dropping like flies. Interestingly the Manhattan lawyer brought his in from Italy and now they have the national guard moving into block that area. Maybe we aren't being told everything.
Yeah so I got that wrong. It has begun.

Suspected cases being reported in SA. Confusion reigns.

Temp suddenly 99.7, you want to meet up for a kiss

The Extraordinary Decisions Facing Italian Doctors

There are now simply too many patients for each one of them to receive adequate care.

Two weeks ago, Italy had 322 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. At that point, doctors in the country’s hospitals could lavish significant attention on each stricken patient.

One week ago, Italy had 2,502 cases of the virus, which causes the disease known as COVID-19. At that point, doctors in the country’s hospitals could still perform the most lifesaving functions by artificially ventilating patients who experienced acute breathing difficulties.

Today, Italy has 10,149 cases of the coronavirus. There are now simply too many patients for each one of them to receive adequate care. Doctors and nurses are unable to tend to everybody. They lack machines to ventilate all those gasping for air.

The principle they settle upon is utilitarian.

“Informed by the principle of maximizing benefits for the largest number,”

they suggest that “the allocation criteria need to guarantee that those patients with the highest chance of therapeutic success will retain access to intensive care.”

You ever see "Airport" bouts? From '70. There is a part there where the airport manager (Burt Lancaster) is trying to explain to a hot shot airliner pilot (Dean Martin) the reality of the allocation of $.

There is a snowstorm, worse in history to ever hit "Chicago."

"I told you this would happen. Why didn't you plan for this?"- Martin

"And I told you that you don't plan for a once in a lifetime storm. You plan for regular storms, then when a disaster hits you work around the clock, do the best you can." - Lancaster.

Same thing with Corona. You want all these beds and hospitals sitting around for the past century waiting for (Corona). No. When Corona hits you work around the clock and do the best you can.

The covid-19 problem in Italy arose from Italians cynically disrespecting, disregarding the govt's advice, which the Repugs have been telling USA citizens to do for decades "government IS the problem, not the solution" subtext: destroy govt, privatize everything

Same as you Trash fellatin / govt hatin' / science-denying ignorant, gulled pricks in USA
