Inovio plans to rapidly develop INO-4800 against the new coronavirus and has already started preclinical testing and preparations for clinical product manufacturing. The goal of this collaboration is to leverage Advaccine's expertise to run a Phase 1 trial in China in parallel with Inovio's clinical development efforts in the U.S. Inovio and Advaccine will also work together to attract additional grant funding and further collaborations with larger vaccine companies in China to increase the speed of future testing of INO-4800.

Imo the theme here is that the planet doesn’t have the ability to support 7 billion people and viruses like these are going to happen more and more frequently until something comes along that wipes most of the population out.
Sounds like they’ll be able to develop a vaccine to quell this particular virus but just imagine how ed we’ll be when something like the AIDS virus comes up that can be spread by human contact.
Theme here is science. Bats don't have an immune response to viruses therefore are natural reservoirs for viruses. Stop ing eating them.
To put this in context, 80,000 people in the US died from the Flu in 2018 according to AP.
to put it in context mortaity is at 2% currently
if that hold up and contagion is not contained 150 milion would die globally
that not including fact that africas mortality would triple if if spreads there

No way this spreads to the entire world the way they are locked down over there. Plus with the spread of information, the amount of people who are protecting themselves better is a factor. This isn't the 14th century, we will be fine.
That's only if the plague of locusts doesnt get them first.
