Apparently Israel has become a real life laboratory to test efficacy of the vaccines. Pzifer has chosen them and they will have vaccinated most if not all its population by March.

Bibi has said that by March Israel will be first country to go back to full pre pandemic normal.

    We shall see.....

    "The new variants are scary.

    Scientists are still learning about
new versions of the coronavirus, including variants that emerged in Britain, South Africa and Brazil.

The evidence so far indicates that they

“are much more infectious than the Italian strain, which has been circulating here since February,”

    “That’s a game changer.”

The mass vaccination campaign in the U.S. is off to a terrible start.

only about nine million have now had their shots.

The Deep South has the country’s lowest vaccination rates. the Confederacy for ing the USA

Things are likely to get worse before they get better. The virus is spreading so rapidly that hospitals are struggling to keep up. About 130,000 Americans are hospitalized with Covid symptoms,
more than double the number two months ago.

    -- NYT email

    ===========

1M vaccinations/day would give 200M total by August, and would require 400M vaccine doses.

"some say" that a vaccinated person who still gets C19 (yep, no perfect immunity) will still suffer from a bad cold (don't know if long-haul symptoms would be possible)

Mild COVID symptoms could lead to some becoming long-haulers

Those who fight COVID symptoms the longest are not necessarily those who were hit the hardest by the virus, local doctors confirmed to WAVE 3 News Friday.

For most of the people currently being seen in Norton’s COVID-19 Long-term Care Clinic, they were never hospitalized or on breathing respirators.

At Norton’s COVID-19 clinic, 80% of patients are female, and the median age is 47. Health care officials said

they are currently treating patients ages 20 to 80.

“I’m in a support group with over 30,000 people who say they have the exact same thing as I have,”
