My math says subtract the 4th hospitalization from the 5th and then subtract 4th deaths from 5th. Add those two results. Then you have to add any discharges and that gives you new hospitalizations. You see anything wrong with that math?

New hospitalizations should be anyone who was admitted for COV on that day. It should not have any other numbers factored into it.
Maybe the layman doesn't understand the implications of the the latter. It's easy to say "think long term" but try that while holding your breath. This country is holding its breath, and we can only do that for so long before we suffocate.

Those ICU beds are normally reserved for patients who need or will need a vent. If he needs a vent then he's likely ed.

he was hooked up to oxygen as of last night, so having him shift to ICU now indicates that he hasn't gotten better. could also be extreme precaution given his high profile
They need every ICU bed they can get. The fact that he's been moved there and people are using language like "worsened considerably" and "markedly worse" doesn't bode well for BoJo.
