The grasshoppers in Africa are going to kill exponentially more people than the Corona19 virus.
We worry more about countries that might have an economic effect on us.
Otherwise Diseases that cause the most disgusting symptoms get the most attention because it alarms people more than just dying of pneumonia. Malaria has killed more people than any other disease. But it was and is shrugged off because it’s a poor people disease with palatable symptoms.

The point still stands. Malaria is the disease that has killed the most people on the earth but it does not make dramatic entries and exits. It has killed fairly consistently. And is relegated to poor countries without a large economic impact.
