We can't say for sure. But guessing wrong on locking down is better than guessing wrong on not locking down. Guessing wrong on the former won't lead to more deaths, while guessing wrong on the latter can be tragic.

Our new cases look more linear than exponential

Sure. I think Texas can start opening. I'm arguing against hindsight bias, that some regions should've never locked down. When the situation was reaching critical mass in Italy, it was the smart move, regardless of region.

they had allowed beaches to stay open for the purpose of transit. people ended up using beaches in the regular fashion and they were very crowded. no other choice besides having them open and having a significant police force to ensure it was only being used for proper purposes

ridiculous "party of science" jab tho

We'll know the effects of reopening in a few weeks. I guess right around the time the next phase happens.

You think the same number of people are going to show up to go walk on the sidewalk way away from the ocean as would tightly pack at the beach if it was open? Have you ever been to Huntington on a nice beach day? It's like spring break then since it's probably the nicest beach in the entire Southland.

    pigs being pigs

    ing dirty fat porkface

cant tell from that video - what the first people were being arrested for - but it was a standard arrest - I see no brutality or any kinds of rights violations -

from that video - just a chaotic scene where idiot civilians do not know how to get the away and allow the cops (if they were even cops - I saw no ID or uniform on the first group and only saw uniformed officers towards the end of that video??) - to do their jobs -

I wonder if those are the most important factors and that lockdowns for other areas were not warranted.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/do-lock...no-11587930911
The lockdown was pointless in most of the country that barely had the virus.

Agreed no brutality there. And I call em how I see em when it comes to that. Cop warned the thug at the end who just kept getting in his face. Then slapped the with his pimp hand. Well done boys in blue

Why should I care what a semiconductor guy says about the efficacy of lockdowns?

We have a population of like 500MM in the US, counting illegals.

If the 1MM dead is over 2-3 years, that’s not the worst thing ever, it’s like a really bad flu (maybe 5x worse than a flu... 0.5% death rate if you assume most of America gets exposed, which is really worst case)

    yup

i think there was more to that last guy getting arrested-

just guessing but that cop appeared to get a heads up from another guy (cop?) near the phone/front of bldg on the right

that the black guy was creeping behind him - im guessing the black dude might have been originally involved and instead of leaving the scene without getting arrested-

the dummy returned to the scene and tried to sucker punch the cop - but got -slapped instead
