And about pay to keep the fabulous Forbes.
What a great front office this is. Paying 2 players who ain't even on the team the 5th highest salary on the team. Way to go
And about pay to keep the fabulous Forbes.
Its embarassing for sure
Not trading Pau was a waste of assets, but his final year was always gonna be dead money. It's not a big deal that they are paying him in the grand scheme, though it's an unnecessary consequence of terrible contract structure (that I've hashed out multiple times already). Pau, Manu and Tim were all dead money by design. To a certain extent, Lyles' guaranteed next year would also be planned dead money if he gets waived. That's not the best cap management, but this is the first dead money that's truly inexcusable.
Can I clarify for buyout if Carroll eventually signed anything more than minimum then Spurs no longer need to pay him right?
I wish they'd give me some of that money!
Thanks for the totally pithy thread, I could not connect two similar events and add their monetary significance. With three Carroll threads this information was totally hard to find!
It's tricky. The Spurs didn't just waive Carroll. So we don't know what the sides agreed to. Usually when you have a buyout, the team agrees to waive set-off rights in exchange for the player essentially setting off part of his salary at the get go. If those rights were not waived though, then the team would be able to set off half of whatever Carroll makes over the minimum. They almost certainly won't get out of all of it (that would require like $16 Million next season or something), but they might get out of a bit over the next two years if Carroll plays well to finish out this season and gets more than the min subsequently.
Paying pop more
Vote for Bernie spread the wealth works just ask other counties oh it has failed in other counties
damn and people still wonder why kawhi left
Makes sense. The first thing to come out was an SI piece about how he was unhappy with the team and their moves soon after they locked up Mills/Gasl, a gimpy Rudy Gay, didn't seriously go after Paul George, and failed to fill in the gaps left after they let his buddies JSimms and Deadman walk - Brandon Paul and Joffrey Lauvergne? Seriously?
The suns are paying Kyle korver 3.44m(he never even played for them.)

so we have an empty roster spot, are we going to add a Tyler Johnson or it would be the best player from Austin?
Yo, thanks for putting these dudes in here on blast! Every team has dead money; usually San Antonio’s is a by design “ Thank You”!
Is that supposed to make anyone feel better. Worse franchises and even those that generate more revenue also make dumb FO mistakes... How does that help the Spurs?
IS this the classic... everyone else was doing it, middle school defense?!
BTW aren't many of the GM, team presidents responsible for those deals fired? I know presti is safe but Mitch with the Lakers and Buss son was fired/removed for the Deng signing. Pelinka had to eat the bullet and do the buyout.
6.65mm for Caroll NEXT year too us all
about 2 3rds of these players were never even signed by the team that’s paying them, they acquired them in trades to match salary and then bought them out. Spurs can’t even trade their garbage.
You also realize that those numbers are a lot less than 11 million US $ or is math not your strong suit?
No one got canned for he kawhi mess so don't hold your breath.
Hopefully this means that we don’t pay Forbes the $18-21 million I fear we are going to pay him
If they are gonna do that pls sign Isiah Thomas and Ish Smith to a 25m a year contract too.
