If we have 400k available hospital beds nationally, and we end up with 10 million people in the country getting the disease (i'll add, these are pretty conservative estimates), then you only need a 4% hospitalization rate to fill those beds. Considering the death rate is thought to be somewhere between .5 and 3%, a 4% hospitalization rate seems really low. And considering 10 million nationally is really conservative and likely on the low side, Its not going to take much to hit the capacity of our health care system even if its operating at peak efficiency (which it won't be).
