I'm hoping the Spurs make the playoffs for the experience for the younger players and to keep the consecutive playoffs appearance alive. I'm also hoping the Spurs gets no lower than the 11th pick in this year's draft. I'm also hoping the Spurs start DJM, LW4, KJ,Lyles and LMA by the 2nd half of next season with a 2nd unit of White, Mills, incoming SF, Metu and Poeltl. If all happens then I can't complain.

Has Silver said the top 20 teams overall or the top ten in each conference. Someone was posting we are the 20th seed, but we are 12th in the WC standings, so I think us playing is doubtful. Any one have better info?

This team doesn't deserve any playoffs and frankly, fans don't deserve the embarrassment.

    Let's not.

Looks like nothing until they vote Thursday. There are at least four scenarios to resume: 16,20,22,30 teams. Anyone thinking they know is just throwing spaghetti against the wall.

They insist on cheapening the playoff experience by putting 20 teams in it, or maybe giving an additional 6 unworthy teams a shot at getting in. May as well just put all the teams in the playoffs then no matter how bad they are And we can all have long playoff streaks Total BS

The league really, REALLY wants Zion in. That's really what it comes down to. Shame. No one wants to watch losers like SA or Washington make the playoffs.

The way I read all this is:

1.) East - each team plays all the other teams once. West - how will they determine which 8 teams you play? Maybe based on which teams you have played less already during the season?

2.) If either 8 seed finishes four games ahead (4+? Or >4?)
    - Magic are +5 on the Wizards. So if they hold lead, there will be no play-in in east
    - Grizzlies are +4 on the field. So all their fans that complain ... they can put money where mouth is and if they hold lead, can advance directly. But we all know they had hardest schedule remaining. Will be hard to keep lead on five other teams.
    - Not sure how this works for teams that have played different number of games to date

3.) In East, if there is a play-in, it will be first team to win two games between Magic (or Nets if Magic pass them) and Wizards.

4.) In West, there are five teams competing for the nine seed. (1) Worst two play, and (2) winner plays one of other four. Remaining two play each other. (3) Winner of those two games then plays for the nine seed. (4) Winner plays in best of three with the Grizzlies ... or theoretically the Mavs, although that’s almost impossible.

If this is true, from Spurs’ perspective, key will be to avoid the bottom two and an extra play-in game.

Okay. It's an asterisk if there ever was one.

It will be interesting if anyone in the NBA has a big jump in improvement when the season returns? Having essentially a 2nd offseason (3-4 months) within the season.

At this point does anyone really care about this season anymore? I know I'm over it and I would rather just see the league getting ready for next season.

It’ll be interesting to see if Kawhi’s quad explodes.
