The rate of COVID-19 patients in North Texas hospitals just crossed Gov. Abbott’s red line
One smaller hospital in North Texas said it was at 120% capacity before Thanksgiving.
North Texas crossed a critical threshold in the number of hospital patients fighting COVID-19 that
could trigger bar closings and lower occupancies at stores and restaurants if such cases don’t decrease within a week.
With more than 2,300 patients testing positive for the coronavirus in the 19-county hospital region,
15.05% of all beds were occupied by a person with COVID-19, according to state data.

Texas School Districts Risk State Funding If They Go Remote After Thanksgiving
The latest guidance from the Texas Education Agency warns school leaders against proactively moving their entire district to remote learning.
The agency’s updated rules state that districts which return to 100% virtual instruction without do ented cases of the coronavirus will only get credit for half days.
If districts opt to go remote anyways,
they will either have to add days to their calendar or lose state funding.
Districts are funded based on enrollment and attendance.

Aren't universities supposed to function in loco parentis? Recklessly endangering students for a little bit of money doesn't jibe with that.
Loloooloool recklessly endangering? Lol
Covid not dangerous to almost any kid in college, maybe .000000000001
There are things to be concerned about besides death. One of them is health. Many people who recover from COVID-19 continue to suffer symptoms for months. Some get organ damage.
https://www.heart.org/en/news/2020/0...among-athletesThe concern transcends sports. In a small JAMA Cardiology study, researchers found abnormalities in the hearts of 3 in 4 people who had recently recovered from COVID-19 and "ongoing myocardial inflammation" in more than half.

Sorry to hear. Missed this.
What happens to Texas' standing when you double the death rate to make the data actually comparable?
The core of modern conservatism is dishonesty.

Texas to shutter three more prisons as units face critical staffing shortages
Three units across the state will be at least temporarily closed this month, according to the Texas prison system.
The agency hopes it will help with dangerous staffing levels.
The agency already closed three lockups in September as
the inmate population plummeted during the pandemic
to the lowest number seen in decades,
