I have no reason to doubt you.

It is weird that I don't know a single person who has had covid-19, nor do any of my relatives shattered across Texas and California.
Who knows? Maybe those allergies or that cough they had for a day or two....I don't want to sound too optimistic but I'm hoping this thing finally mutated into a less lethal strain. I'll look into it for sure...just been too busy with patient care.

No really...yes. Getting F'd. I'm seeing cases multiple x2...but here's what I've noticed and I can't be sure but a lot of the recent cases seem to be milder. As in, people are recovering in <10 days. As of now, the elderly 70 and up are still the ones getting hit the hardest. Again, this is my personal observation. Might be a milder strain going around but I haven't looked into it.
That’s consistent with what was reported from Italy a couple weeks ago, fwiw

Coronavirus infections in younger people are skyrocketing — here’s why

“that younger people have come to make up an increasing percentage of cases [in Oregon] as the pandemic has persisted.

Those under the age of 40 now make up 40% of new COVID cases.”

    In
Orange County, Florida — where the Florida Department of Health has said coronavirus cases are on the rise — the median age for a patient has dropped from 37 years old to 35 years old.

Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino told a local news affiliate that “half of all cases in the last 14 days [have] been in people between 20 and 40 years old — so the pandemic is going a lot younger.”

North Dakota has an even more surprising statistic: the number of total COVID-19 cases in that state is highest among people between the ages of 20 years old and 40 years old.

It's a serious question and I will try to give a serious answer. It's a nasty virus. There is no denying that. People will continue to get it and die or get ed up by it. We each individually have some control to limit our exposure. I think hospital occupancy and ventilator availability should be the deciding factor. Maybe make the decision on the local level. There is no good answer. Destroying the economy to be "safest" certainly isn't the answer.
We definitely aren't doing that so that is a straw man from here on out.

The trick is when to start restrictions because every indicator we have is a trailing indicator and trailing by a good two of three weeks. someone has to guess when the hospitals will be too full in the future and put on the brakes then. the haircut and grass seed crowd doesn't think that way.

People aren't catching this outdoors. I don't know how often this needs to be repeated.

I have no reason to doubt you.

It is weird that I don't know a single person who has had covid-19, nor do any of my relatives shattered across Texas and California.
I live in SATX and had a close family (age 75) member catch it, go on a ventilator, and ultimately recovered. I have two friends (ages 35 - 45) who caught it and basically had bad flu symptoms for a week. It is definitely serious. But I think at this point we can stay opened and just use common sense social distancing. I don't think our country can afford a shut down.

I wish we would focus more on living healthy living and strengthening our immune system rather than a body count. Our country would be better served.

    "Common sense distancing".

No such thing, tbh. Everyone has different ideas what that means.
