Covid-19 Live Updates: Virus Tightens Its Grip on Texas

The precarious situation in the state, which has seen more than 2.1 million cases and 32,000 deaths, is a threat to the gradual progress the United States is making in trying to flatten its curve.

Much of Texas remains overrun by the virus, threatening U.S. progress.

New cases in Texas were averaging more than 20,000 per day on Monday.

The state has seen a steady increase in new cases since October, when there were approximately 4,000 a day on average,

Texas has reported more than 2.1 million cases, the second highest total in the country after California,

the United States has been averaging more than 200,000 new cases a day since Jan. 2

On Monday, Texas reported 111 deaths, bringing the total number of people lost to the virus in the state to more than 32,000

a sizable portion of the more than
400,000 total deaths reported in the United States.

Wait for California to export their much more infectious new variant(s) to TX.

Dallas tried to help the Blacks getting slaughtered by the pandemic, and said it would somehow give Blacks vaccine priority

bag racist TX state government said it would block vaccine to Dallas.

Only one Texas county shows COVID-19 vaccine acceptance rate needed for return to normal

Hesitancy to take a COVID-19 vaccine varies greatly in Texas, and

Dallas County residents are more likely than others to decline shots,

As Dallas County struggles to provide enough doses of vaccine for its residents,

it has to overcome an additional barrier in the pursuit of herd immunity and a return to normalcy —

the fact that about 1 in 4 residents don’t want to be vaccinated.

No the video isn't about your made up numbers

Texas official 2020 COVID death count (up to 12-26-20): 29955

Excess deaths, Texas to 12-26-20: 41619 (CDC dataset, ave excess minus observed, col F minus column C)

Texas official count as a percentage of probable real tally: 72%

The dataset for the year is pretty much complete at this point.

Add in the last twelve hundred people that died in the official count for 2020, and multiply by the 39% multiplier, and you get the ending tally as 43,472.

    FWTW.

The population of a small town died from one disease in 2020.

We only need 4X deaths to catch up to NY
    https://www.statista.com/statistics/...s-us-by-state/

    Texas at 183.

Assuming they use actual reported figures (same data set as avail at Texas Dept of health) that gave rise to the 1.39 multiplier, that puts Texas at 254. (also assumes that multiplier is fairly constant over time)

Given most of the states in the top basis actually used probable excess as part of their official counts, and Texas didn't, that is the only real way to compare them, i.e. apples to apples.

That puts Texas at #5 in deaths per million in the US.

8.6% more fatalities per million and we catch up to your NY metric.

Given vaccine hesitancy disparity between the two states, the well of dumbasses that will die off in Texas is proportionally larger than that of NY.

Looks like conservative dumbassery will put us, in the end, past NY.

    as.

    it.
    would.
