My friend's uncle got it...found out he was positive on Friday and dead by Sunday. He was in decent shape...mid 50's.

I think people forget that the eyes are another gateway for the virus. Wear glasses or something when you go into crowded stores, etc. Not 100% protection but offers some sort of shield.

Another friend is SA felt bad and got it, tested, +.
Her husband feels bad and is not even going into get tested as he has all the symptoms and is in bed.

This is pure . These people were being extraordinarily careful.
The dude is ex air force and is freak about organization and keeps lists of who he had seen.

this one is worse for me personally as they really dont have a clue how they got it.
All the others I personally know had really clear contacts.

But gossip... so fear not ST.

Your eyes drain into your sinuses. Virus in fluid there... drains where it needs to go.

    Sorry to hear, FWIW.

Still people denying the danger, as if it is non-existant.

Our hospitals are not going to be overwhelmed. It's not difficult.
Number of Texans hospitalized with coronavirus more than doubles in two weeks to nearly 8,700 people
    https://apps.texastribune.org/featur...rus-cases-map/

You will note that the rate of hospitalization has remained steady of about ten percent of known cases.

    All sorts of data there.

The graphs on total beds don't really tell the whole story, since not all "beds" are really helpful, as noted before. The colored graph showing the strains on the ICU capacity show the biggest dangers.

I told you then we were on track for that, caseload doubled, and I see it doubling again in about two weeks, if that is how long it took, as there are enough observations of people not really changing their behaviors. This week will be bad, and at some point after that will be the nightmare scenario. Houston and SA will be hit first, followed by Dallas shortly thereafter.

Entirely predictable. Entirely avoidable. Entirely the fault of the Republicans, who have minimized the danger at every turn, and pushed for re-opening. Things like this have a certain momentum, and we have to wait to see any mitigation efforts take effect. We will have been a bit too late.

Galveston county is the only county in Texas where covid patients exceeded 10% of hospital bed capacity.

Average across the state is 6.3%
    16% now.
    https://apps.texastribune.org/featur...rus-cases-map/

Double the case number... at the same hospitalization rate.. you have 32% in two weeks.

76% full now... add 16% to that... 92%. Factor in the fact that not all "beds" are created equal, and not all beds will be available to a patient that needs it, i.e. a bed in Dallas doesn't help someone who is struggling to breathe in San Antonio.

    Two weeks.

[just in case I need to make my point again-rg]

    (NICU "hospital bed")

    and this "hospital bed":

    (ICU)

    and these "hospital beds"

(psychiatric from an actual psych hospital in SA)

Only one of those is going to help someone whose lungs stop functioning, those are the beds you need to count and pay attention to...

It's amusing how far left socially accepted mass gatherings are bypassed by nature and yet simple bar gatherings aren't.
Its sad how the far right can't tell the difference between expressing outrage over a senseless murder, and wanting to jibber jabber with friends over a beer.

murder = moral equivalent of talking with friends over a beer.

That is how dumb you sound here.

    It's not a shrug.

Someone with the common cold gets counted as being COVID positive.

    The numbers are wrong AF.
That isn't correct. COVID tests are accurate for positive results, but still have some false negatives.

As for the common cold Corona being counted as COVID... no, that's a different viral test altogether.

It's been shown to them that this is what the CDC says; and somehow all of them still need to believe the numbers are accurate.
TheGreatYacht will tell you this is so. This is why you're a weak man, blake; and you always will be.
