Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted that Cuomo’s administration not only withheld information about nursing home deaths, but did so in order to preemptively avoid political and legal consequences.
“We were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to (state legislators), and what we start saying, was going to be used against us,” Cuomo’s top aide Melissa DeRosa told New York legislators last week.
DeRosa’s father, brother, and sister are employed at one of the lobbying firms that represents GNYHA, the health care industry group that funneled millions to Cuomo’s political machine and spearheaded the corporate immunity law.
We will see immune escape within 1-2 years. The variants are not happening because of recombination. This is the expected evolution of this virus. All of these mutations were seen in the lab in March 2019 using a pseudotype virus. Discussed thoroughly here...

The mutations are occurring independently of each other. All of the mutations are found in a new strain present globally
I'm not concerned about variants. The vaccine or previous infection should provide some efficacy against the variants and the vaccine can be tweaked.
The genetic recombination that concerns me is SARS-CoV-2 recombining with another betacoronavirus resulting in a completely novel virus, SARS-CoV-3. Two of our common cold viruses are betacoronaviruses and there are many betacoronaviruses endemic to other species that have been shown to be suitable animal reservoirs for SAR-CoV-2.
