Probably not, Spanish Flu might have killed as many as 100 million worldwide and firsthand accounts I have heard of it wiping out whole neighborhoods sound a lot worse than COVID.

Yeah, it's not 1918 either. I have to imagine that medicine and a lack of good, widely available information at the time contributed to a lot of unnecessary death.

I still wouldn't discount at least a million or two deaths worldwide when all is said and done. Spanish Flu circulated for a few years before and after the surges in 18-19. Covid on the other hand has been around more or less 5-6 months and is only now starting to take off in many parts of the world. Time seems to slow when you're stuck at home, but we're only in the 2nd inning of a 9 inning game as Dr.Mike Osterholm likes to say.

Probably a lot more than 9 considering we'll probably all need to get in a weighted lottery for a vaccine when (if?) one becomes available. By weighted I mean I hope it's weighted towards those 65+ since they need it more than we do.

At a .0066 fatality rate, you would have to infect 15bn people {edit} with Covid 19{/edt} to kill 100M. (100M/.0066)

If it infects about 60% of all humans the ultimate death toll will be around 30M at that rate.
