What are the lost revenue implications of this? How is this going to affect FA and draft decisions moving forward?

Really rough estimated income lost from arena ticket sales with remaining regular season and playoffs could run to $500 million. If you do a 60%/40% split TV/Arena money, you are looking at rough estimate of 1.25 billion lost!

Any projections of the NBA having a salary cap of $115 million with luxury tax at 139 million for 2020/21 season should be scrapped!

NBA is estimated to generate 8 billion a year. 1.25 billion is roughly 15.6% of 8 billion. This years cap was set at 109 million for 2019/20. A 15.6% reduction would put next year's cap figure at an estimated 92 million salary cap with luxury tax at 117 million.

Now these numbers I'm putting out are very, very early estimations and educated guessing! I'm just trying to piece together what people are writing and google searched information. The big question mark is the lost TV revenue! That exact amount hasn't been said or I just haven't found it yet. That is the main source for big money contracts to players and increasingly larger salary and luxury caps for teams.

If there is an estimated 17 million drop in cap space, then the March 5th 2020 Hoops Hype Article over teams with cap space will look very different.

    5) Heat - $26.5 million (9.5 million)
    4) Hornets - $28 million (11 million)
    3) Pistons - $32 million (15 million)
    2) Knicks - $46 million (29 million)
    1) Hawks - $51 million (34 million)

If these figures are any where near right:

    1) DeMar is opting in. Then you are either keeping him or sign and trade.
    2) One of either Patty Mills or Rudy Guy will not be on the team next year.
    3) To help get under new cap, I don't see how you don't renounce the cap holds for Marco and Forbes at minimum
    4) Resigning Poeltl becomes more problematic
    5) If Aldridge and/or DeRozan are traded, the contracts of who is brought in becomes way more important.
    6) Whatever you do in the draft with picks or trades is going to get even more magnified over the next 2 years because that is the best source for cheap players and potential stars to fill rosters.

Everything is going to be up in the air with this cancellation of the season, and it seems the impact is going to be felt for several seasons after this.

If the NBA reduces the salary cap, they will also reduce the salaries proportionally. You can't change the cap and let teams adjust with Nowadays salaries imo.

    Streak?

The Lakers streak is still alive -- seven years and counting (two with LeBron).

It has not been officially canceled. They are only considering it at this point. Thread is premature.

    This.

But it's coming, in my opinion.

If they aren't having the Olympics, they aren't finishing the NBA season.

I absolutely agree it is coming. But this thread implies news that hasn't happened (yet).

I just saw a Tweet from Jared Dudley that said they won't make a decision before June 1 because it's too much money at stake.
