It's very iconic by pop culture standards.

It's old and tired confirmed.
Yeah, Scarface is more a campy piece of nostalgia than anything. De Palma was still four years away from making a really good movie and six away from one with anything less than everything over the top.

It appeals to a certain sociology-economic class especially. I think it could bring in all kinds of demographics though; especially since anything is bound to be better than the original. Unlike most remakes, it pretty much has only one direction it can go. Though it does have a dilemma; to redo "say o to my little friend" or not. On the one hand, it wouldn't feel like Scarface without that line. On the other hand, it could feel like they're desperately hanging on.
Terrific movie, one of if not my favorite:
1. Entertaining from start to finish;
2. Great plot and soundtrack;
3. Perfect ending. You can't make any better ending for a guy like Tony;
4. Al Pacino stole the show;
5. Good cast overall. Mic e Pfeiffer
Once again great great movie.
I agree with this. At least for when it came out. It was entertaining and the story was actually pretty good. And at the time, most people didn't recognize how bad Pacino's Cuban accent was.
Maybe it doesn't hold up... but for when it was made, it was a damn good movie. Granted, I was a little kid so it was cool as to be able to say I saw it.
Not as great as many make it out to be but certainly not as bad as some others do.
Not sure if you mean the “first” Scarface or the first “reboot”. The first one was made in 1932 by Howard Hawks, starring Paul Muni and Ann Dvorak. I believe it is famous for being one of, if not the first, talking gangster movies.
This is the tale of Tony Montaña
Cubano Flame, with the Miami nuts
Got a base-head wife, but her womb is polluted
This whole town's a pussy, just waiting to get FUUUUUUUUCKED!!!
Get with the program. Scarface is Tony Montana.
Nope. Tony Camonte.
Pacino's cuban accent. Sounds more like dominican to me.
Coen bros wrote the script?
The time has come for a Black scarface
Idris Elba would be great tbh
Pacino's always been hot garbage.
Selling to blacks. Might be the right financial move.
