Except he has 5 rings and it was a level playing field. Shaq and any other Lakers alum saying differently means less than nothing and I'd tell him this to his face.
Still butt sore about the sweep. Had to be humiliating.
I've never understood the asterisk argument. Shouldn't the athletes who made sure to stay in shape get rightfully rewarded, anyways?
Shaq also benefited from 2 rigged les(1 not even up for debate). He might be the best NBA player I've ever seen at his peak, but only Jordan and Durant are on his level from a sensitivity standpoint.
Yep, every team played the same amount of games that season. He also acts like the Lakers didn't make the playoffs that year because there weren't enough regular season games and they were right on the bubble. We swept'em
Don't let facts get into the argument! Actually that is the best way to respond to this nonsense. 'The Spurs swept you.'
Sounds like the fat kid took his ball and went home...
If the season resumes and the Lakers win, would Shaq say the Lakers won a “real” championship?
Shaq was allowed to camp in the paint and throw elbows his entire career. He was a POS without the referees holding his hand and would have fouled out of every game otherwise. Probably top 3 ugliest free throw of all time. His movies sucked as bad as his rap albums. He's also a freemason got.
I would rather have a D-Rob or Bill Russell any day of the week.
If it was so easy to win that season he should have done it, instead of getting swept like a little , tbh.
Kiss Timmy's 5, got.
Because of 32 irrelevant regular season games that no one cares about anyway? lol k
Then why did he play in the 99 playoffs and got swept?
How much validity does a person who got swept by the eventual champions that year really have? Sour grapes
If the spurs were 1 and done meaning if they never won another championship after that then he can have a point that they just won it that year because of the lockout but Tim Duncan proved he was legit with adding 4 more rings after that season.
Does LeBron then only have 2?
Love how he negates a championship while he spent the last three years chasing one from the bench. Does a championship count when you barely play during the playoffs. If you are looking at all time greats, I think those bench sitting rings shouldn’t count.
Non news this is all about being bitter bc he got swept that year. If he wins and has more rings we never hear this.
And the sad truth is that Shaq could've been more compe ive and a starter at the end of his career if he just didn't let himself go completely.
Yup. And he is outclassed by Tim and he knows it.
1 franchise, 5 rings and 2 decades of execllence vs a desperate, ring chaser-washout who played for 6 teams.
Guy did nothing but whine about money and his role in LA. Chronically out of shape, recovering from surgery on "company time".
History will not be kind to him, as it should not be.
What Shaq said doesn't bother me because I know he's saying it out of anger and frustration that he has to deal with 5>4 for the rest of his life. I actually get a kick out of seeing him miserable.
I didn't have enough time to play my fat ass into shape
Hes just a hater he knows Duncan owns his soul.
He saw that he's ranked behind Duncan on the ESPN top 100 list.
Shaq would have had zero les leading a small market team. He tried in Orlando and couldn't get it done, so he had to super-team it like so many others.
Takes a real to lash out twenty-one years later about his sweep.
Especially bad when one considers the 2002 banner belongs to the Sacramento Kings and the 2006 banner belongs to the Dallas Mavericks.
Shaq is contradicting himself. He also said "regular season doesn't matter." A full playoff was still played in '99, and the dominant Spurs went 15-2.
But when his ass gets swept, all of a sudden the length of regular season matters He's obviously anally devastated about ESPN ranking Duncan higher than him.
