It's like Michael Jordan's career but without the turn around jumper. It's like Dr J's career without the ability to attack the rim. It's like The Iceman's career without the finger roll.
Lmao fair words. But if I remember correctly, Barkley didn't have his post up ability until later in his career when he started getting heavier

He always had it it's just earlier in his career it was more drop step, hooks and slams at the basket as opposed to the turn around game and sit in the post for 12 seconds looking for somebody to get open like he was later.

He had great quickness so when he dropped his inside foot towards the hoop it was kind of like a speed to power move by a defensive end and with his leverage people would go flying. He just used his big ass as opposed to his hands for force.

I like the Barkley comparison from the rebounding and hustle standpoint and being a modern day analogue that is as close as we will see in this era of basketball. Same height, long term Keldon probably will stick as a stretch 4, uses his body as a weapon in the paint (facing up more than posting up, but that is today's game) and has some of the best rebounding and ball hunting instincts you'll ever see. It's a different era and Keldon's offensive arsenal reflects that. Not a one to one comparison but it's a fun one and I'm gonna keep making it.

Damn, I forgot how much energy Charles played with. Feels like I'm watching Keldon.

    Hey it's free country.

Barkley had a lot of weight and was relatively short cut even at his diminished height. He used that to root people out routinely throughout his career.

That's not Johnson's game. Kawhi Leonard makes more sense.

I'd forgotten how good of a ball handler he was. His drop step to the baseline too.

To me, Chuck's trademark was using his strength and instincts to fight for rebounds a dude at his height had no business grabbing. Not to diminish his scoring ability, but that's the first thing I think of. The short, thick dude grabbing boards and taking that coast to coast for a high energy slam. Keldon - the ing mustang, embodies that in spades.

Not a one to one, again. But the energy and presence they have on the court feels familiar to me.

Keldon Johnson now has 4 games with 20+ points. Most 20-point games by a Spur in the first 25 contests of his career since Tim Duncan’s 6 in 1997.

Longterm he can't be a PF but he can play the SF. He kind of reminds me of Artest on the offensive end but with a better offensive game.

I think he'll get there. He does a lot of ball handling at home, tbh.

That hybrid pull-up/floater from the FT line in tonight's game was beautiful tbh. He adds that to his arsenal and he can average 15+ regularly by the time this season is done IMO.

Cedric Ceballos was like that. But I think Keldon is similar with Grandmama Larry Johnson, wide and who knows how to use his body. But whoever, this kid is the real deal.

So you're saying he's the second coming of Lauri Markkanen?

Build team around him and start trading Gay, DDR, LA ASAP and Spurs in two years could be much better.
