It definitely seems that treatments are getting better at keeping COVID patients from dying. The relative complexity of the treatments make them less sexy for media and tweeters and pundits and politicians looking for a single magic bullet (hydrxychlrquine), and not everyone is using the same regimen. The big deal I see going forward are the possible long term effects for those who don't die. Muh anecdote is a friend in his thirties with no preexisting conditions who still has breathing issues months after clearing the virus. I'm sure Darrin can find some way to treatment shame him.
The friend I had wacked by it lives here.
He now has heart arrhythmia. He had already had EKGs before as a baseline. He also never went to the hospital while sick. but 3 weeks on his back and lost 16 lb.
Also the concern is different people will react differently to the treatments. Imo this virus is very good at showing which parts of our body had pre existing problems that we had not a clue about. That shut off of O2 to different systems is asking questions of our bodies. So we see a wide array of serious symptoms as well as after effects.

I don't want my C19 mortality cut in half,

    I don't want C19 AT ALL

You may not get that luxury the way we have handled this.
Im hoping and actually have this psuedo belief that if I get it, I handle it fine.
But I will be damned if I give it to more vulnerable family and others.
Got way to many bad anecdotes from friends in other places, Im not having this traced back to my stupidity due to a cavalier at ude.

But I do understand the need for normalcy in human relations and your own mental health. I have always exercised heavily and thats always been a great calming agent for me. Just wish the pool would open back up. Im very lucky in getting to do a lot of exercise outdoors.

If we had a blue president it is quite possible that this virus was a message from God.
Not seen a whole lot of this for some "weird" reason.
But we have seen claims it will magically go away, so thats where God must be spending his time.

MODERNA: VACCINE WON'T BE READY UNTIL 2021

Moderna Therapeutics CEO Stéphane Bancel said Wednesday that Moderna would not apply for emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration until at least Nov. 25.

An emergency use authorization lets frontline medical workers and at-risk individuals use the vaccine during the pandemic.

Bancel added that Moderna will not seek FDA approval for vaccine use in the general population until late January,

adding that such an approval will more likely come closer to late March or early April.

Hydroxychloroquine didn't protect health care workers from coronavirus

studies have found the malaria drug

    hydroxychloroquine ineffective and

    even
    dangerouswhen used to fight coronavirus.

the drug was ineffective in preventing health care workers from contracting coronavirus.

they "cannot recommend the routine use of hydroxychloroquine" to prevent infections among health care workers.

hydroxychloroquine wasn't effective in preventing coronavirus infections after exposure to the virus.

the drug could cause serious side effects in hospitalized patients.

    Expert Opinion:

COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Unlikely Before Fall 2021

The majority of those surveyed were mostly Canadian or American academics with an average of 25 years of experience working in the field.

Many experts also believe that there may be some false starts before an effective vaccine is available.

“The experts we surveyed believe that there is a 1 in 3 chance that the vaccine will receive a safety warning label after approval, and

a 4 in 10 chance that the first large field study will not report efficacy,”

Efficacy and Safety of Hydroxychloroquine vs Placebo for Pre-exposure SARS-CoV-2 Prophylaxis Among Health Care Workers

This randomized clinical trial did not detect a reduction in SARS-CoV-2 transmission with prophylactic administration of hydroxychloroquine, and all participants who did contract SARS-CoV-2 were either asymptomatic or had mild disease courses with full recoveries. As such, we cannot recommend the routine use of hydroxychloroquine among HCWs to prevent COVID-19.

New study suggests COVID-19 immunity is 'waning'

observed a "significant" decline in the percentage of the population with COVID-19 antibodies, potentially pointing to "waning immunity."

there has been a "significant decline in the proportion of the population with detectable antibodies"

the study suggests that "immunity is waning quite rapidly."

"We don't yet know whether this will leave these people at risk of reinfection with the virus that causes COVID-19

New Study Suggests COVID-19 May Age Some Patients' Brains By 10 Years

The cognitive effects of the coronavirus can last for months in certain cases, according to researchers.

People recovering from COVID-19 may suffer significant brain function impacts,

with the worst cases of the infection linked to mental decline equivalent to the brain aging by 10 years

in some severe cases, coronavirus infection is linked to substantial cognitive deficits for months.

“People who had recovered, including those no longer reporting symptoms, exhibited significant cognitive deficits.”

The cognitive deficits were “of substantial effect size,“

particularly among people who had been hospitalized with COVID-19,

with the worst cases showing impacts “equivalent to the average 10-year decline in global performance between the ages of 20 to 70.”

I wear a mask because they work and are mandated.

    I don't necessarily need a vaccination.

What time is it where you are?

Here's you chance to not fold!
