You're what's wrong with this country presently.
In the short term...yes. But automation will continue to increase. So in the long term, we're just adding population that will be out of work at some point.
They often immigrate back when that happens. A million or so Mexican nationals on net returned to Mexico from the US from 2008-2018. We had negative immigration from Mexico for a solid decade
Maybe. But we're talking about 20 years away maybe. By that point, they've become ingrained in society and many have started families. At some point, automation will result in net job losses for almost every sector. Manual labor and service probably first, but eventually, almost all jobs will be vulnerable. But maybe we've figured out how to make it work at that point. I'm pretty pessimistic at the point because I don't think politicians are planning for it.
