Sorry I missed it.
Anybody get you some of that Kodak stock today before the rally died? Turned a cool $1k to 10K
https://www.barrons.com/articles/kod...an-51596031726Eastman Kodak shares are enjoying a renaissance. Shares were up an eye-popping 474% Wednesday afternoon, building on Tuesday’s nearly as eye-popping 200%-plus gain. Shares closed Wednesday up 318%. Fresh capital and a new business are the reasons. The question for investors now is how high can shares go?
It isn’t an easy question to answer. There are no analysts covering the company and no target prices to help investors. What’s more, the company is taking a government loan to build a drug-ingredient business. Kodak (ticker: KODK), has been and is in the imaging business. Valuing a huge new business is hard for any investor evaluating a company.
Sorry I missed it.
I was doing ok already with AMD but then this broke and I was able to get in at the low 20's
Qualcomm tomorrow...how much?
New York (CNN Business)The enormous rally in Kodak (KODK) shares has no end in sight, after the Trump administration announced the company will be transformed into a pharmaceutical producer under the Defense Production Act.
Trump good now
Kodak is settling now...that horse is dead.....run tomorrow on Qualcomm...thinking 10K play. Selling all my AMD in the a.m. Telsa is dead for now.
Communism good now
NOSTROVIA
Navarro and the criminal insider buying at Kodak, to produce chemicals for HCQ
-- from Popular Information email
Insider purchases
The administration's loan to Kodak was possible because of a May 14 announcement by Trump.
That was when Trump delegated authority to the CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) under the Defense Production Act. The DFC was authorized to invest in companies to
"restore the domestic industrial base capabilities, including supply chains within the United States… needed to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak."
During his CNBC appearance, Continenza said that he had been working with the government on securing the loan for "a few months." It is obvious that securing the deal would dramatically increase the value of the company. The amount of the loan was seven times the value of Kodak at the beginning of this week.
That means that Continenza knew about the possibility of the deal when he purchased 46,737 shares of Kodak on June 23.
At the time of his purchase, those shares were worth 103,756.14. As of Wednesday afternoon, those same stocks were worth $1.87 million.
Other employees who purchased shares since the May 14 announcement include Director Philippe Katz and CFO David Bullwinkle.
Continenza has made a few other purchases of Kodak stock dating back to August of last year. In an appearance on Fox Business on Wednesday, Continenza said he doesn't "speculate on the stock price."
The hydroxychloroquine connection
The deal with Kodak was brokered by White House trade advisor Peter Navarro.
In recent days, Navarro has openly feuded with Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert.
Navarro wrote an op-ed for USA Today with the le, "Anthony Fauci has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on."
One of Navarro's chief complaints is that Fauci was insufficiently supportive of using hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, to treat or prevent COVID-19. The deal with Kodak appears to be a way for Navarro to continue to push hydroxychloroquine.
As part of the deal, Kodak will reportedly manufacture chemicals that will allow more hydroxychloroquine to be produced domestically.
Studies have shown, however, that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in treating or preventing COVID-19. A study by the University of Minnesota, released June 3, found hydroxychloroquine "does not prevent Covid-19."
A rigorous study by the UK government, released June 5, found hydroxychloroquine had "no benefit for hospitalized Covid-19 patients." On June 15, the FDA revoked its emergency authorization for the drug, stating that its "unlikely to be effective in treating COVID-19."
The WHO dropped hydroxychloroquine from a large clinical trial on June 17, "after available data indicated the drug was not effective for Covid-19." (Navarro has keyed in on one outlier study that experts say was deeply flawed.)
But, despite the evidence, Trump and his advisers remain keenly interested in the drug.
On Tuesday, Trump praised Dr. Stella Immanuel,
who claimed in a viral video that hydroxychloroquine is a “cure" for COVID-19. Trump said Immanuel was "spectacular" in the video, adding that he believed hydroxychloroquine "works in the early stages" of the virus.
Immanuel, however, is known for holding a number of views that are not supported by scientific literature, including that "the uterine disorder endometriosis is caused by sex with demons that takes place in dreams."

So the Kodak story is all about Trash, Navarro, etc STILL pushing the discredited HCQ
As long as someone made a profit, their virtue can be set aside for a moment.
Spoken like a true Stalinist
How did that cryptocurrency ploy work out for Kodak?
government intervention isn't communism (or socialism). it would be socialist if the company became publicly owned (or worker owned)
there was another country i'm thinking of where the government used wartime power to intervene in private companies and gave them perks/privileges as long as they shaped their goals to be in line with what the government wants/needs
When younget past the "war powers" fancy nancy lingo , you see that its communism at its core:
In communism, means of production are owned communally.
Kodak did not have a choice did they?
there is no communal ownership of kodak
who gets the profits? the state? the people? the employees of kodak? no
"...Part of the enthusiasm may stem from the fact that Kodak reportedly aims to make drug ingredients used in the fight against Covid-19, including hydroxychloroquine, a medicine that President Donald Trump continues to tout as a possible treatment even though it has repeatedly failed to show a benefit in clinical trials. ..."

Oh
Did kodak have a choice. Yes or no
Its like.a cop commandering your car.
Thats communism too
At that point your ownership of your car and rights to it meant jack
not that i'm aware of. it was government intervention.
to an extent but not exactly, because i'm not losing possession of my car.Its like.a cop commandering your car.
its not "communism" let alone socialism if the private company remains private in its ability to reap profitsThats communism too
socialism isn't defined as "when government does stuff"
but thats not what happened hereAt that point your ownership of your car and rights to it meant jack
none of this is communism
Yup
Communism
Theres an old cuban saying: "aunque la mona se vista de seda mona se queda"
"You can dress the monkey with silk but its still a monkey"
you're just showing that you dont know what communism means (or socialism)
socialism doesnt just mean government intervention.
I never uttered the word socialism
i know. communism is not even within the realm of what we are talking about, so i was being charitable and trying to let you pivot to socialism (colloquially, they are sometimes used interchangeably). communism is when everything in a society is collectively owned and there is no social class, no money, and no state. its a completely utopian idea that we haven't even remotely approached.
socialism is when there is social ownership of the means of production.
socialism is supposed to be the intermediary step between capitalism and communism. thats why your claim that the government giving/loaning kodak money to start manufacturing drugs (while kodak maintains private ownership and profit sharing) is "communist" was never even realistic, and as i pointed out, it doesnt even approach the lesser extreme socialism.
for somebody who talks a lot of about america and its education system, you maybe should read up a bit on what these things mean
Except i never said that.
Did kodak have a choice yes or no.
Thats where communism comes in.
Let me put it this way. Is china communist yes or no?
