I'm inclined to think initial viral load at time of infection may be one of the more important factors.

Hopefully so. Seems worth the minor inconvenience of being a diligent mask wearer, wouldn't that be great?

So being "old", let's say over 70, isn't really a death sentence.

I'm more inclined to think the comorbidities, e.g overweight, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, are more important factors.
I think that's for the most part right. Smoking is a big one too, smokers with COVID have died/had complications at a much higher rate than non-smokers with COVID iirc.

Even if you are fat, changing your diet has an immediate effect IMO. Having the nutrients from fruits/vegetables in your system vs. processed helps if you get the virus.

From what I hear, obesity is a common characteristic of patients in ICU.

When I saw a relative of mine decline rapidly (older and obese), I decided to drop 30 lbs.

As it turns out, ridiculously easy to do.

The two they have are not a disadvantage. It's not like conservatives are strapped down and forced to watch Maddow Clockwork Orange style.
    Don't forget Sinclair also

Actually, calorie deficit worked way faster for me. But, that's just me.

When I saw a relative of mine decline rapidly (older and obese), I decided to drop 30 lbs.
all i had to do was lose my car and ride a bike instead.Lost 50 lbs in 2-3 years riding 10 miles round trip to work, five days/week. Plus rando bike rides.

Full change of carefully ironed and folded clothes in the backback, small alcohol spray bottle for pre preprandial ablution.

When your bicycle is your main means of transportation, you drop weight fast.

I'd do that, but I'm not really in an area safe for cyclists. No shoulder on these roads nearby.

I learned as a kid in the 1970s and relearned in the last ten years. Don't take a stupid chance, but be ready to ditch at all times and you gotta be aggressive on your bike.

Take your space. Project your intentions. Obey the laws of traffic, unless it's inappropriate to do so.

You can tell when they want to run over you if you watch carefully.

Take a big chance and don't up.

my 41 mile commute on I35... not feasible. Although most rush hours, the bike wouldn't take much longer than the car...

It’s happening to every American. We deserve a president who doesn’t go out golfing while Americans are dying by the thousands daily.
Or legislative bodies that take a summer recess during a pandemic?
