Depends on whether your definition of terrible is based on policy, personal appeal, or margin of victory. For all his flaws, I can't think of anyone who would poll better against Trump, can you?

Sure. Mic e Obama would poll way, way better. You also don't think if Biden didn't run that the Democrat apparatus wouldn't have a candidate polling relatively well? I think the current poll numbers have more to do with Trump being ass than anything old Joe has said/done.

I'm not sure any woman could get +10% on an in bent right now, but maybe. Her approval rating was very good when she left office but that was when people viewed her as a harmless outgoing first lady, not a potential President.

Ultimately, a "terrible" candidate is one who loses to Trump in 2020 and I think there are probably more options for Dem nominees that fit that description than nominees who would lead +10% right now.

They need a stronger bench but the EC prevents a truly progressive candidate from being anything but a huge risk at best.
