Not pretty ... but a W.
Belinelli is a "defensive liability as usual" against Utah's second & third team scrubs, and scores 8 points on 33% shooting with a poor +/- but still grades a B? How is that possible? That smells like grading on a seriously lowered expectation curve!
Pretty low bar for Dejounte tbh. I thought he looked really, really bad at times...particularly his defense.
This. If anything he was worse than the past few games when you account for the fact he went up against second and third stringers.
Thanks timvp. Have a good weekend!
Ditto! This win was good to see! Onward to NOP!
Poeltl's double-double just a B+ in Master Timvp's gradebook.
Whilst Belli's 8pts on 33% shooting earns a B.
The young guys, particularly Lonnie and Keldon, need to have their heads up when running the called plays. Sean pointed out 3-4 occasions when they missed an opportunity presented by a Jazz over or under play of their man to take the ball to the rack down an open lane.

His contract sucks, I'm over him.
It's a miracle in itself that DJ/White/Lonnie are all starting together so I'll give credit to Pop for finally going with that rotation. But I wonder if it wouldn't be better (for both young guys) if Keldon took Lonnie's place in the SL.
what's worrisome about murray is that it's hard to say what he should focus on working on offensively... because he needs to work on everything
Not really. He needs to focus on 3 point shooting. He needs to be taking 5 a game and shooting 37-39%. Once he learns that his weak game will open up so much.
yeah, his 3 sticks out to me too but his driving to bucket still needs work, his passing too. he's isn't really solid at one thing offensively was my point.
I agree with all of that. But if he becomes a good 3 point shooter, that opens up his dribble drive game exponentially. Instead of set defenders guarding him, he has people running at him in a hard close out and out of position against the dribble/drive game. It’s gotta be baby steps with him but in my opinion just having a 3 point shot opens up the floor so much for him even with his other weaknesses.
let's see...
- dribbling without getting pocket picked
- finding open teammates
- better pass locations/touch (in the pocket)
- not waving off hot scorers in crunch time/decision making
- pace (too fast or too slow)
- contributing when shot isn't falling, not mentally checking out
i don't think murray's contract is that bad.
teams would take a flyer on him. he's only 23.
he'd be fit better next to a curry or a doncic, or on the raptors, clippers. lebron would want him, there's honestly a lil extra value in that.
DJ has rarely turned the ball over...y'all still with this narrative that he always gets picked from 3 years ago because of pat Beverly
Murray ALWAYS looks great when he attacks and takes at least 15 shots a game... It's when he gets passive and shoots 5-8 shots he looks lame
