Does removing sorting machines from a post office improve or reduce the chances of delivering its mail on time during the election?

Just to clarify before this gets an intellectually dishonest response, no one is saying that turning them off wouldn't be normal. It would make sense to turn a redundant machine off if there was a reduction in mail volume.

Physically removing them and permanently reducing a processing center's capacity has no logical explanation.

it does if capacity has a running cost.

What are the running costs for a machine that’s turned off?

Is this a reason you’ve heard, or are you just speculating?

The timing for assessing running costs is purely coincidental.

Machines don't do well in stasis. They have to be PM'd, run on occasion to ensure they can run if called upon, the electrical facilities to them have to be maintained, the space has to be maintained. I know about idled machines, they require service just like running machines require service. Think about boats in storage.. they don't do well unless prepped and maintained on the regular. rots.

BREAKING: Postmaster general announces he is 'suspending' policies that were blamed for causing mail delays ahead of election

Breaking: Amid intense scrutiny, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said that he is expanding a task force on election mail and he expects the Postal Service to deliver “election mail on time and within our well-established service standards.”

He said retail hours would not be changed, neither mail-sorting machines nor blue mailboxes would be removed, no mail-processing facilities would be closed, and that overtime would be available as needed.

So what about the processing equipment that’s already been removed? Hopefully people keep the pressure on until Dejoy reverses all the damage he’s already done.

Polls in Iowa Georgia and Maine got released today with questions about the USPS and they’re horrible for Trump. All 3 states were at least +20 in favor of the post office being funded to make sure the election can be handled.

Who would have ever guessed Americans don’t like billionaire oligarchs ing with their mail.

Time for the Dems to keep their foot on Dejoy’s throat and force him to resign.

Interfering with mail delivery is a felony, and there have been grumblings about his actions rising to that level, given how egregious they are. Wonder if that had anything to do with it... Dude has got to know Trump won't shield him from potential prosecution forever...
