Heard that even though it's bloody expensive, it tastes noticeably better than regular salmon is worth it.

Just cooked some for dinner and it did not disappoint, highly recommended for anyone who doesn't mind paying literally double what you're probably used to paying for salmon

Not a big salmon fan, but have always noticed a difference between wild caught and raised salmon.

Twice as much isnt too bad, really. Good fish costs.

Sea bass, lake caught striped bass, scallops, mussels, clams, oysters.

Salmon is dense and too meaty.

Not a big seafood fan. But I know enough to know that environmental conditions can have an effect on taste/quality.

That’s the thing about this coppper river salmon. It tastes a lot softer and less meaty.

Farm raised salmon usually tastes disgusting , I can’t eat it. Plus it doesn’t have any of the nutrients (namely omega 3s), nutritionally farm raised salmon isn’t too far off from eating a steak.

Fresh striper is a delicious fish and really versatile. One of the few fishes that can be cooked almost every way.

The difference between ty salmon and good salmon is shockingly large. I lived all my life thinking I hated salmon until I had some of the good stuff in Seattle and my mind was blown.

Speaking of salmon, anyone else love salmon skin sushi rolls?

    Skin-on filets are best, imo.

It has to be wild caught or I can't eat it. Seattle is great because you can get wild caught salmon from Alaska that wasn't ever frozen.

I used to think that was the perfect place to get rich and retire and move to, but then there were reports this spring/summer of giant murder hornets from China/Japan there.

From the kayak in the bays of Texas:

    Speckled Trout (best under 22")
    Flounder (15" and over)
Redfish (more difficult to clean; best at the limit size20" to 22")

Take any of these and put them in slushy ice immediately after catching.
I mean have an icechest you can take with you on the kayak and put them immediately on the ice, no stringer.
Keep em up to six days in the slushy ice (change out water)

You will never go shopping for fish again.
    Ever.
You got 3 different textures above that are absolutely wonderful.

I will take the speckled trout over the other 2 due to a recipe that fits the meat perfectly.

Im gonna say this probably goes for most of the good eating gamefish on any coastline that are not too big to be cooled quickly.
Fresh is a must. And the slush, does it.

The actual act of catching fish is fun and a real delightful thrill.

The act of cleaning and butchering a freshly caught fish... not so much. Ugh. Not for me.

Sources tell us "Copper River" is a euphemism for "leaky anus" and Copper River salmon means tongue fishing the stream.

Used to get that a lot when I lived in Seattle. Very fatty and therefore very tasty.
Worth the $ if you love seafood, outstanding.

Seattle inflation is outrageous tbh. 15 an hour minimum wage
