now, Dems would have to up it from 6-3 up to 7, or 8, to 6 (13 or 14 total)

The Dems aren't going to stack the courts or or give DC statehood or nuke the filibuster. They don't have the votes for it unless Manchin and Tester have a change of heart which I don't see happening.
If FDR couldn't manage to pull off stacking SCOTUS with a huge majority in both the house and senate, 78 year old Joe Biden sure as isn't going to be able to especially only with a razor thin senate majority.

The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.

IMO he'd be better off with someone who isn't so clearly pro-life (he and the Republicans don't give a about abortion, they just need a corporatist judge who the braindead evangelicals think wants to overturn Roe v. Wade). The evangelicals still viewed Gorsuch as a win they give Trump credit for while Trump didn't get anywhere near as much flack for him as he did Kavanaugh.
A female Gorsuch is his most savvy political move, but Barrett wouldn't be an awful decision from a political standpoint imo.
