In other news, conservatives may inadvertently lose something they love - their porn:

Porn Stars Are Terrified of Amy Coney Barrett.

“Yes, if Trump nominee Amy Coney Barrett becomes the next Supreme Court justice, the future of the commercial sex industry could be in grave danger—as could the viewing entertainment of millions of Americans since, according to Pornhub statistics, the U.S. consistently outranks all other countries in maintaining the highest rate of daily traffic to Pornhub. Thus, as the Senate hearings to confirm Amy Coney Barrett draw to a close, her seemingly inevitable spot on the bench has sparked panic among the sex-worker community.”

Where does Maher get off saying:

This is why we cannot let a guy like Trump become President.

    Duly elected president.

Who's to blame? No one but RBG herself - Trump is just fulfilling his cons utional duty.

Not to mention she didn't even go to a top 20 law school, and the only way she ever got that Scalia clerkship was through the Federalist Society. She's a Fedsoc plant who would have never made it to SCOTUS on merit alone.

Il Papa sez civil same-sex marriages are OK with him, sez they are all children of God.

We'll see if the SCOTUS Catholics leave or annul Obergefell

My guess is the Christians' hate of LGBT is too deep, too engrained, the hate ing defines them as "Christians"

Obergefell is very probably doomed, along with ACA and R v W

She was dean of Harvard Law School. That's a bit different than going back to be a professor at your law school alma mater after you couldn't make in private practice despite having a ing SCOTUS clerkship on your resume.

She doesn't come off as articulate or as a skilled jurist. I think Gorsuch has a distorted interpretation of the cons ution but I came away from his SCOTUS confirmation hearing knowing that he was clearly qualified for the court. Roberts is still the GOAT in terms of confirmation hearings go - he went into the hearing as someone viewed as a partisan pick and ended up getting confirmed with 78 votes. I have no idea how smart Kavanaugh is because he was flailing out of control during his hearing, his temperment alone should disqualify him from the court.

a lot of the animus toward gorsuch was due to the garland fallout. otherwise yeah people would be pissed that another conservative was taking the bench... but nothing particular to him. not only was kavanaugh unhinged, but i thought his previous positions made him too partisan a figure to be on the court. and if you really want to get into the meat and potatoes of the confirmation hearing, even though i dont think theres enough evidence to declare him a rapist or w/e, there were plenty of small inconsistencies within his own story, and seemed like he was lying at worst or being incredibly evasive and misleading at best.

Maybe I missed the thread where all this great discussion happened, but you were touting ACB as unquestionably qualified for SCOTUS. Is that still your opinion?

I do. I won't argue if somebody feels she's not, both Will and SR made good points here about it.

Generally speaking, I think the biggest gripe with her, at least from the confirmation hearings, had everything to do with her political ideology and position, which we all know what they are, and should never realistically be a disqualifying factor.

I look at it this way: this is an administration that has gone so far as to hire guys like Scott Atlas, completely unqualified to say or do anything about a pandemic response.

The fact that they picked this lady, who at least has some semblance of qualifications, is almost miraculous. I keep thinking you could have somebody like Ted Cruz in there, who could make Uncle Tom Thomas look like a moderate justice.

they didn't pick her the federalist society did so that's why she looks better than an administration appointee

I get that. I also reserve the right to claim I'll likely despise her rulings in general, and will likely hate any attempt to embed religion into SCOTUS matters.

But this was a sandwich for the Dems no matter what largely thanks to RGB. Eventually, you reap what you sow.

he’s a liar and he’s not even good at it.
The fact that he was able to enrage himself over minor details makes it clear to me that he wanted nothing to do with the pertinent questions.

he purposely binged on stupid stuff like drinking to get himself enraged

do you like beer senator? gtfoh

alcohol is supposed to relieve one of inhibitions.
but grabbing women against their will and holding them down, that’s just pure bull .
    that’s already in your behavior.
