I also think pollsters did adjust post '16, and 2018 I thought they did pretty well.

If there's one en y that actually cares about not getting it wrong, it's pollsters.
Why is it so hard for people to understand that the reason the polls were so wrong was because they didn't adjust white people based on college vs non-college and that ed them. I can't believe white people are so ing crazy we need to count the learned vs the non learned now.

I just saw John Cronyn tell me he was going to save Medicare from MJ Hegar’s universal healthcare plan. We have a staunch conservative campaigning on preserving state run healthcare against universal healthcare. ing ridiculous.

It's largely the same people that believe in a transparent man in the sky that's creepily looking over their shoulders 24/7, and ALSO does miracles. So yeah, with that bar, anything is possible, tbh

I am in the center. I want the same healthcare system that every other developed country has. There's nothing polarizing about that.
    Maybe there is?

What Republican senators are saying on healthcare and pre-existing conditions is definitely a hilarious level of dishonesty, but I view that as a positive because it means Hegar has Cornyn fighting on her turf. In 21st century hyper-partisan America, the topic of conversation matters just as much as if not more than who's winning the conversation. When Republicans are insisting it's actually them and not the Democrats who are going to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions, they're losing. No different than how a Democrat caught up in a debate about protecting 2nd amendment rights is losing.

Most of them know that evangelicals are the only way they win elections so they look past the fact their party relies on getting votes from re s who think the world is only 5,000 years old. They might not be stupid but they're morally bankrupt to the point where they don't see any issues with a political party that relies on dogma and bible fairytales to win elections.

If the GOP was the party of Larry Hogan and Charlie Baker it might do a lot better than the current GOP does in California and the Northeast but it would get throttled in the south and the midwest.
I’m not all that sure evangelical beliefs have any depth to them. Their iden y is tied to a tribe, that tribe believes certain things, so they affirm them in order to be in that tribe, and that is that. But it’s all just labels they wear — there’s no thought put into any of it. Living out their faith consists of:
    1) Go to Sunday sing-along pop concert
    2) Listen to Sunday stand-up comedy/motivational speaker routine after the concert
    3) Attend midweek book club meeting
    4) Hate gays
    5) Oppose abortion
    6) Always vote Republican no matter what
I think for a lot of white evangelical Christians their “faith” is just part of being white. They follow the white people religion. It’s just a veneer they smear over their white nationalism to make it seem more respectable.

Agreed with all of this except you missed by pro gun violence. Wanting every dumb redneck in America to be armed to the hilt and ready to shoot up a school full of kindergarteners is a cornerstone evangelical belief.

If we could get our country to stop being over-consuming fat s, we would see far fewer "pre-existing conditions"

That's why our covid death rate is so high.

I somewhat agree. A big first step in that happening is campaign finance laws that make it so companies like General Mills don't have congress in its back pocket. The fact we've let fast food companies and soda infiltrate our public schools is deplorable, and it all started in the 80s when Reagan decided he wanted to "reduce government" and change the way school lunches are done.

I'm not saying it's just Republicans on this to be clear. OUr public schools still classify pizza as a vegetable because of Amy Klobuchar.

Now I realize Michael Moore had it right in Bowling for Columbine. They cope with their fear of black people and feelings of loss of control by stockpiling guns.
I should have seen it years ago. White evangelicals almost never reach out to black evangelicals. Black evangelicals who like diversity have to seek them out. The whites have no interest in forming community with Black Christians. Jesus means nothing, race is everything.

You'll occasionally get the Amy COVID Barrett types who adopt kidnapped Haitian kids, but that's largely just so they can show the world how not racist they are. The trend of evangelical families adopting Haitian/African "orphans" has a really creepy and racist underlying belief - as if evangelicals are the white saviors who give these kids the upbringing they need surrounded by wholesome white people.

That wasn't to be good, that was purely a political stunt, when she said she cried talking to her black daughter about George Floyd, you could smell the bull coming out the screen

Sorry but evangelicals supporting a president who talks about grabbing women by the pussy and who cheated on his 3rd wife with a porn star shows they were never about god or protecting Christian values. They were always about controlling women's bodies and hating minorities. Evangelicals are by and large dirt poor white people angry about the fact they live in poverty with no shot at a better life but think their problems have to do with women getting abortions and gays getting married.

But polling was overwhelmingly fine before and after 2016?

I get you don't trust them, that's definitely your prerogative, but I don't think it's a complain based in reality, IMO.
Polling was fine in 2016 too. Just media talking heads misinterpreting them as if Trump had to win 10 coinflips instead of two.

Yeah, but it's not because of religion, it's largely because of "deplorables"... Trump did well in saying he loves the ignorant.

And that's a separate discussion, how we include the less fortunate in the head/education dept into a society and world that's more complicated by the minute.

Which I completely understood, Trump promised them a return of manufacturing, and plant openings, without any plan to actually deliver. He was never challenged on it and in most cases Hillary didn't even show up. It's the same demo that are still with him after he was clearly bull ting that are full of .

Yeah let's get Americans on an exercise and diet plan, and then the first thing the R's would do is go out and consume 3 large pizzas, for "mah freedom"
