A Republican Senate candidate's remarks reveal the party's slide into authoritarianism
JD Vance
He was a guest on Tucker Carlson's white-power hour. He railed against people he doesn't like.
"The basic way this works is that the
Ford Foundation,
the Gates Foundation,
the Harvard University endowment —
these are fundamentally cancers on American society,
but they pretend to be charities, and so they benefit from preferential tax
"Why don't we seize the assets of the Ford Foundation, tax their assets, and
give it to the people who've had their lives destroyed by their radical open borders agenda?"
The most constructive way of viewing Vance, and today's Republicans, is through the lens of authoritarian collectivism.
The common thread is the belief that power is about us against them.
To wit, JD Vance identified an enemy who, as
the enemy, is no longer en led to the rights, liberties and privileges of the in-group, i.e., the Republicans.
The enemy deserves whatever's coming to it.
In this case, "asset forfeiture," a violation of the sacred right to property, as conservatives in the past would have understood it.
the Republican Party has changed from a party elevating the interests of the individual to
a party elevating the interests of the collective at the expense of the individual.
Trump showed us the base doesn't care about abstractions like low taxation, and the like.
What they care about is not being whatever the enemy is.
It's also a key feature of authoritarian collectivism.
You are not free
when the governor, for instance, Florida's Ron DeSantis, not only permits the coronavirus to spread unfettered but forbids local authorities from preventing its spread.
You are free,
however, when the governor, for instance, Connecticut's Ned Lamont, takes your side against the coronavirus and legally forces scofflaws to get vaccinated.
The Australian government is protecting the citizenry's freedom.
To DeSantis, however, freedom for the enemy is tyranny for the authoritarian collective.
the Republicans have changed from a party that elevates the individual
to one that will sacrifices the individual — in this case to the covid — in order
to protect, preserve and perpetuate the authoritarian collective.
the Republicans have not had to defend themselves against allegations of authoritarian collectivism.
I think it's time for that to change.

DOJ Lawsuit Against Alabama Prison System Resurfaces Amid Plans to Expand It With COVID Funds
Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuit against the state of Alabama for uncons utional conditions in prisons for men resurfaced after Governor Kay Ivey signed legislation on Friday enabling the use of COVID-19 relief funds to build more penitentiaries in the state.
passed two bills earlier Friday to use the federal COVID-19 relief funding to partially pay for the construction of three large prisons—
one in Elmore County with at least 4,000 beds;
another in Escambia County also with around 4,000 beds;
and a women's correctional facility. such facilities don't correct nothing
the DOJ sued Alabama and the state's Department of Corrections over poor prison conditions for men, which allegedly violates the Cons ution. The complaint alleged that
the state fails to provide adequate protection from prison-on-prisoner violence and
prison-on-prisoner sexual abuse,
safe and sanitary conditions, and
subjects prisoners to excessive force at the hands of prison staff.

Republicans Claim Fauci Wants To
‘Cancel Christmas’ the new phrase Repugs / rightwing hate media to inflame their ignorant, stupid cult mob
Republican lawmakers are livid at President Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci, accusing them of an attack on Christmas after Fauci noted that the pandemic might not be over by late December.
"The Biden Administration wants to cancel Christmas!" claimed Florida Sen. Rick Scott.
"Americans are smart enough to make their own decisions. NOT 70M of duped, lied to Repug voters
They don't want or need the federal government to decide how or when they spend time with their own families."
Fauci, the country's top epidemiologist, was asked by host Margaret Brennan
whether it would be safe to hold family gatherings by Christmas. Fauci answered, "You know, Margaret, it's just too soon to tell."

MSNBC Goes To Town On GOP Sen. Josh Hawley With A Stinging Supercut
Chris Hayes’ damning montage shows why the Missouri Republican’s latest indignation is “frankly kind of astounding.”
a stinging montage to call out Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-Mo.) indignation at Justice Department efforts to increase the monitoring of threats to teachers and school officials.
Hawley’s attack on the move amid a rise in harassment and intimidation over COVID-19 mask mandates and critical race theory teaching was “frankly kind of astounding when the reality of what’s happening on the ground is undeniable,”
a supercut of Hawley’s comments, cut with scenes and witness accounts of violence and threats aimed at school officials.
“Josh Hawley’s very upset,” Hayes concluded.
“We’re going to send him that montage just to read him into a little bit of what’s been going on at the local level,
but I suspect he knows.”

Don't agree with book banning but in today's times, the kids are going to find whatever they're looking for on the internet. If some district bans a book, it's almost a guarantee that a kid will find that book and read it.
They even try to devour their own .
Sen Sinema is probably looking for a an exit out of the democratic party as we speak. She cant even take a sh1t w/o the crazies swarming her.
She should remove her ball gag.
