Imo the politically savvy move would be expelling Hawley and not Cruz. Takes a lot of the heat off the GOP while there’s no way Democrats can win a Missouri special election unless Todd Akin runs again, so it’s not like McConnell loses any seats.
Cruz also posses no real risk, he’s an insufferable piece of who’s never going to be president. Hawley is a legit sociopath who McConnell clearly has no ability to control
