the electoral college does not gather and vote on january 6
they already voted on december 14. the votes have already been cast, certified, and sent over to the senate, the archivist of the US, etc.
all that happens on the 6th is mike pence gets to open those certificates and read them out. but the statement that the EC has already voted is factual.
