The election of 1876 was the biggest mess ever, but the fact that it happened doesn't make it a precedent for 2020. The facts aren't similar.
The controversies in South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana in 1876 did indeed arise from fraud, but fraud was never adjudicated. The dispute Congress had to settle and had no roadmap for, was how to count disputed electors.
We have a cons utional roadmap now, described above and elsewhere ITT. Another difference in 2020 is that a clear majority of electors (over 270) are not disputed, but have already been awarded to the winner of the popular vote in those states and filed with the US archivist. AFAIK there is no precedent for decertifying presidential electors. But, supposing that Trump's suits seeking decertification can succeed, they would be time limited; the Electoral College will vote on Dec. 14th no matter what. Therefore, under the US Cons ution (Article II, Section 1) and US law ( 3 US Code 5) the deadline for the conclusion of any election challenges is Dec. 8th. Even Trump has acknowledged this.
In order to beat Biden, trump would not only have to decertify electors, he'd have to nullify a handful of state elections and have their electors awarded to him. Again, before Dec. 8th.
I'm alive to the argument that a candidate who wins by fraud is not a properly elected officeholder, indeed, that's one reason for the safe harbor provision, to allow sfor challenges. In this case, Trump has offered nothing more than a mountain of hearsay and gale of conclusory allegations, as evidenced by his post-election track record in court: 1-46. He'll need a lot more than that to overturn the election and frankly, he's hasn't much time to develop the facts. The judicial branch isn't going to hand Donald Trump the election because its spidey sense tingles, he's going to to have to meet a legal standard of proof in court. In some states (e'g., Nevada,) that standard will be "clear and convincing evidence." So far, team Trump has failed to meet the legal burden 46 times.

I agree that fraud shouldn't be allowed to determine election winners, but Trump & Co. have failed to meet any legal standard of proof in court. Fraud remains unproven. Indeed, under his own name Trump hasn't alleged any fraud in court until today.(AZ and GA afaik)
