The contents are more or less immaterial. You have one side that's socially awkward and just want to belong to anything, thus cults are appealing. It's tribalism taken to an extreme. A good book about this social phenomenon is Roughing It by Mark Twain.

That gets matched with a person that dreams to be king, and so he demands ultimate adulation and loyalty. It's all very primitive. It's like a bad novel from the Renaissance.

Mussolini was much less strategic, thus why I make the association. He rode the sentiments of WWI to erect his fascist state, but unlike Hitler, he wasn't really about conquering, which is strategically much more complicated.

His eventual alliance with Germany had much more to do with remaining in power than wanting to support Nazism. Eventually he lost it all anyways.
