    Bill Self finally taking over?
His son is already the GM of the Austin Spurs... That's heavy nepotism

Nah, it's from a source, not an assumption of mine. Whether I'm going to listen to this source in the future depends on what news we hear in the coming days...
Then make the le "Pop might be retiring."

If Pop was retiring, why did they immediately find a replacement for TD? Wouldn’t it better to let the new coach choose? Or was this all too sudden?

Anything is possible, but it would seem out of character and against the MO of the franchise, one that values consistency and transition, to make a sudden drastic coaching change right before the draft. That's the kind of thing the Kings do every other year.

they literally went next man up and picked a new coach. It's a very weak coaching tree as is!

Mitch Johnson, who completed his first season on the Spurs' bench last season, has been promoted to fill Duncan's spot. Meanwhile, former NBA player Darius Songaila, who spent last season as a player-development coach, has been elevated to a bench assistant role.

    I've got nothing to gain.

If it's true, then I hate it.

If it's false, then I'll be happy.
Do you have some kind of info or you just making a guess? You didn't make that clear.

The best insider information we had said that he would be retiring after the coming season, and the Olympics would be his capstone. Not now.

If Pop was going to retire I don’t think he would wait until this close to the season to do so.....

I mean maybe he is going to retire and the organization and players already know this and the media hasn’t gotten the information yet, but I seriously doubt the players or other people throughout the organization would be able to keep this secret so quiet.

Who knows how this slapdash NBA season in a raging pandemic might make an elderly man feel about being part of it. I’d imagine he has, at least, thought about retiring. Would be wild if we lost Pop. DDR and LMA would likely want out, too.
I can see the possibility of this. Guess we’ll hear soon enough.

The time is right for Pop to retire if Pop wants to retire. The NBA scene isn't what it was even last year. The risk he takes from being around that many people all the time might not justify it now. It could be why Tim left as well.

There's retiring and then there's Retiring. Stepping aside from coaching duties is one thing, hanging up Chief Poo-pah les as well is another.

I'm not trying to with y'all. I hope it isn't true. Not because I think he is doing a great job, but because there hasn't been a clear cut replacement that has my confidence. Coach Bud would have been great years ago. Coach Hammon, no matter how highly people think of her, hasn't had a long tenure and probably hasn't learned enough to be a good coach yet.
This thread had less truth than the president's election fraud circus of lawsuits. Total fake news! You were definitely trying to with us....
