So the Administration, having put all its chips on the magic vaccines, can only double down on them and hope they work well enough (or they get lucky and contagion rates wane as the public increases its level of precautions) that infections fall off enough for them to escape blame. But the flip side is while not all that many get worked up at old people dying, even hale and hearty elderly who could well have lived a decade longer, kids perishing or suffering from Long Covid or other morbidities won’t be well tolerated.
