    red asses, tbh

    why do they hate capitalism?
I mean they their overall shtick is to pretend they are too rich to be affected by anything that happens in the world but they're always so, so angry about things like gas prices no matter what as long as their manhood is still out of office.

historically we've seen much lower prices at the pump at current per bbl oil prices, recent underinvestment in refining capacity is a fairly inelastic constraint. what do you think Joe Biden should do about that?
under invested or impossibly over regulated? The last major refinery was built in 1977.

Today, national and state legislation require refineries to meet stringent air and water cleanliness standards. In fact, oil companies in the U.S. perceive obtaining a permit to build a modern refinery to be so difficult and costly that no new refineries were built

Who is, "they"? Because that sure the doesn't describe me. Trump sucked. Biden sucks also. Gas prices suck. It's not Biden's fault but to post a one month chart to refute the inflation problem is ridiculous. Awesome, we have some relief. I'm happy about it. But I think the economy (for normal people) is going to get worse.

I didn't say you did. I'm sure I can find a minute chart on oil that shows an upward trend. But you responded to "Runaway Inflation" by posting a one month chart of gas prices.
Did you have a particular point? If you did we can discuss it. Do you think we've got inflation under control? Without a recession? And by the way, I don't think this on on Biden. It just it what it is.
Presidents get the blame and the credit for macro trends they do not control, and predictions are more or less a fools game.

That said, it seems doubtful supply chain problems will be solved promptly, ditto with refining margins and sanctions-induced trade imbalances. Also seems clear the Fed has its thumb -- counterproductively, I think -- on the monetary spigot to cause a recession. GDP was essentially flat in the last quarter, so there's an argument to be had that we were already headed that way.

    What will happen? Who knows?

Agree with this. On the one hand, four years is too short for a president to really see an impact (especially in the economy). But six years could be a disaster on a global relations scale with a bad Commander in Chief.
I suppose the reality is that everything is way more complex than it was 40 years ago. And it's not getting any simpler. Sometimes, you're just not going to be able to solve or alleviate all of the problems.
