Saying the Covid package "costs every single American $5,750" is a lie. It does not cost every American that amount. Federal taxes are not collected on an equal basis from every individual American, and they are not collected into a shared pool where everyone has an equal amount. Conservatives seem to understand the distribution of taxes when we're talking about tax cuts, but not when we're talking about spending. If I'm a 3% owner in a business with 4 other people and we make a $5 million investment, it would be stupid for me to say that investment is costing every single owner $1 million.
Usually when Republican politicos try this tactic, they phrase it something like "This legislation will cost the average taxpayer $5,750." Still misleading and borderline dishonest, but at least it's not technically incorrect. But he's saying it will cost each American $5,750. That's a lie meant to appeal to the gullibility of the "voterepublican.jpeg" cons uent when the reality is that their 1% cons uents pay a much larger share of the bill, and they stand to pay even more when we raise taxes to fund all of this. Most Americans don't even pay federal taxes.
