Not a surprise at all. The Spurs had until the 29th to waive him to avoid paying him $500,000 next season but I guess they decided to do it as soon as possible to avoid a scenario where he gets hurt and they're on the hook. Or, perhaps, the Spurs wanted to give Metu a better chance of landing with another NBA team.

Metu's Spurs career was basically over after Eubanks past him in the depth charts.

This guy was overhyped as when the team drafted him and he never looked like an nba player. Best of luck to him I guess.

Best of luck Chimezie, I had hoped he could become a bench guy that earned some regular PT.

I think it's the second explanation: do Metu a solid by giving him more time to find a new team.

    Probably a little of both
Spurs are known for taking care of people. Even at the end of the bench.

Metu was terrible. LJ said his Spurs time was up when Eubanks passed him on the depth chart. I think it was up when they drafted Samanic. He had size, all of the athletic gifts of Metu, and actual basketball skills.

Least enjoyable player to watch in memory. Just straight sucked the fun out of any game he entered.

Sad. Trey Lyles, Samanic, Poetl, is not a bad young front court. Would be nice to get a beast 3/4 though. Snif Patrick Williams. Oh well. GSG!!

Metu with his athletic skills should focus on playing D, hassle guy, rebound, shot blocking. That’s how he could carve a roll in the NBA. Best of luck

Nah. Joff was a less athletic but slightly more skilled version of Ayres. Chim couldn't sacrifice enough babies to the demon overlords to be as good or enjoyable to watch as either.

This is a positive sign of Luka's development being on track...

No other way to see it, that and of course Eubanks bringing that physical game...

He was Landry's guy, or at least Landry's excuse for hanging out on the USC campus so so much

Wonder if he gets a camp invite from the Hawks

He was fun to watch in Austin actually. Had some impressive dunks and displayed some nice footwork and some good boards in the paint. He also was hitting a 3 pt or two.

Just never seemed to translate to minutes or production in SA.

I mean I watched him in Austin too, even live. It was gross. Dude ruined the summer league for me two years in a row, and that's my favorite time of the NBA year normally.

Too bad. I was pulling for him. Maybe some guys just need to play alot of minutes on a bad team to develop not sporadic spot duty. Should probably go overseas
