So apparently in 1877 there was a contested election where electors in NY ignored the state vote and some voted GOP. When that happened it went to the HoR and after a bunch of backroom dealing the GOP stole the election and reconstruction ended.

Apparently that was the hope here. Send in extra electors and hope no one noticed a difference.

It's monumentally stupid as an actual strategy. For example back then the actual elected electors voted both ways not the ones that had lost. Further there are now laws that prevent electors from ignoring the vote. And at the end of the day the Democrats still control the House of Representatives.

in 1877 there were multiple sets of electors sent by the state governors

in 2020 there is only one set of electors for each of these states. it's not as though the governors/legislatures have certified multiple sets. its not comparable. this is no longer a contested election by any legal definition, its just alternate reality stuff
