Is it really surprising that about half of GOP voters like Trump? We're talking 15%-20% of the voting population here.
It is surprising to me. I thought he would not go away but hes basically back to his baseline. Given that 1/2 americans dont vote thats a pretty big %

This is a poll among republicans. He never really lost them. 70-80 percent are forever with him.

Right. And you also have to consider the number of conservatives who view themselves as "independent" even though they vote straight party GOP.
That's a bit down from before the election though, IIRC... he was closer to 70% among GOP voters...
But, it's understandable IMO. There's the amount of butthurt of 8 years of Obama (see derp for permanent damage), and the cadre of terrible candidates (look at that list).
It's going to be interesting how things work out in the 2022 mid-terms. Is the GOP going to split and present both Trump/non-Trump candidates and what happens if either wins.

Congressional elections are prime for trump candidates. The question will be if enough win to take the house?
If they do Dump is coming back with a vengeance (provided the 80 year old fat doesnt bite the dust by then)
Most pro Trump candidates have lost badly.
