    S3 is just storage, dummy.

In fairness, I wouldn't expect you to know that, Reck.

I use it daily. As I do AWS.

Hopefully, my company never gets on Amazon's bad side.

Host a static website with Amazon S3
You can also use Amazon S3 to host your static website. Hosting a static website on Amazon S3 delivers a highly performant and scalable website at a fraction of the cost of a traditional web server.
To host a static website on Amazon S3, configure an Amazon S3 bucket for website hosting and upload your website content.....

Or to make it even shorter from their site:

Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is an object storage service that offers industry-leading scalability, data availability, security, and performance.

So safe to say it’s a bit more than just a storage service. Karrin

I'm guessing Parler would've been a really successful "static website".

Security and performance are important for storage too. If you're hosting large do ents or a big collection of static data, you want the server not to slow down.

They would use something like Amazon Beanstalk (not related to LkrFan) with a RDBMS for the app/logic side.

Yeah, S3 would suck for performance. We only use it for backups.

It's extremely fast for reading, which is what it's designed to do. You can pretty much host all the static content of your sites/apps. It pushes out to CDNs, so it's generally very fast for reading.

We push archives to S3 nightly. They are pretty massive files, so I don't download very often.

Netflix uses S3. Pretty sure they're dynamic but whatever, continue to nerd laugh at the ASW storage/host nuance instead of laughing at parler for getting pinked.
