That said, the relatively recent shift to populism of a faction of the GOP is new and alarming, IMO.
From outright advocating a military coup to complete disregard and actual undermining of democracy to virulent attacks on almost all ins utions (congress, judicial, etc), taken as a whole, does show a marked shift.
Hopefully it's just a fad, but we'll see.
