Tbh I don't watch the news. I kinda see articles on yahoo that AOC said this (angry rant here) or AOC clapped back at this person (applause). But my main point is that I've never really heard of people giving a about a regular house rep before. I don't even know my house rep anymore once I moved, it used to be Castro. But the idea of knowing other states house reps is still weird to me.

She checks the fear/hatred boxes, and additionally makes sensible cases for progressive, left of center policies.
The right is so used to getting its way by hysterically screaming "communism" at anything that helps people and moving the "acceptable' window of policies (Overton window) so far to the right that the possibility that someone who makes sense and might be appealing can move it back from the far right to closer to the center makes it all worse for them.
They focus on her for the fear factor, because she checks those conservative, especially evangelical, fear boxes. From their viewpoint she must be destroyed. That is why she gets so much attention from conservatives, IMO.
