Anyone who posts as much or as hastily as you and I do is going to make mistakes. I didn't vet the tweet, but that hardly undermines the need for more investment in winterization in Texas.

    Sorry about the bad tweet.
Or more from the hip spreading of fake news

Yoi're just making stuff up now. I more meant the grid than snowplows.
Yeah the tweet was definitely about the grid

DMC always argues a point you never ing said.
When you share takes from 3rd parties and offer no comment of your own (like Boutons, ducks and Winehole23), you are basically using that as your voice.

One side of this street is Texarkana, Arkansas.

The other side is Texarkana, Texas.

"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."

There is a leadership failure in Texas...

This is what was in the tweet.

I showed you that the image was misleading thus the conclusion based on the image is misleading.

It is. Thanks for sharing. And once again, the lack of preparedness for an emergency situation (despite this one was telegraphed well in advance) in the name of muh free market, ends up in avoidable deaths.

I know you're desperate to change the topic, but the whole point of posting the Texasarkana pic was to show the difference between Texas and neighboring states with regard to winter preparedness.

Texas underinvested and got caught short of capacity for a foreseeable weather event.

Or more from the hip spreading of fake news,
My example was bad, the difference is real. There was no deception intended and as to the major point -- that Texas has underinvested winterizing its grid -- no one was misled by the bad tweet.

    45 gigawatts offline
    18 gigawatts from renewable sources

    40% -- disproportionately high

Still, we need the infrastructure improvements regardless of source.

How much of any of it was weatherized, Karrin?

Also post your source if you're not afraid.

The uneducated opinions flow freely here

Wind turbines up north get cold weather packages, obviously not for free else they'd all have it regardless. How many Texans own a snow plow attachment for their trucks? Not many, but up North a lot of citizens have the equivalent of cold weather packages on their vehicles. They have block warmers, heaters that don't rely on engine temp to produce heat, high idle adjustments, power converters in their vehicles, snow plow packages, etc... They have snow shovels in their garages. They have basements to keep their water pipes from freezing and they can actually get to the pipes to insulate them and/or heat their basement with fuel oil. Many have emergency power in the form of generators. Homes are build and insulated for those conditions. People prepare for the environment they live in, not the once in a lifetime anomaly that could possibly occur. I don't own a snow plow or a snow shovel. , I don't own an ice scraper. Every car I rent north of the frost line has an ice scraper inside. Try getting that in Florida.

So if Texas would winter proof all their buildings, residences, power plants and solar/wind systems, they'd be prepared for these once in a lifetime events. Notably I also don't have a bomb shelter.

We discussed all this 4 days ago. Some are just now catching on. You have to wonder how they function without constant supervision and hive handholding.

After Abbott convened what his office described as an "emergency meeting" Saturday with lawmakers to discuss the issue, the Public Utility Commission on Sunday met to sign two orders, including one that would direct energy providers to temporarily stop disconnecting customers from power or water because they have not paid.

The commission also signed an order to stop companies from sending invoices or bill estimates to customers “until we work through issues of how we are going to financially manage the situation we are in,” commission chair DeAnn Walker said.

“Disconnect for non pays cannot occur on a Sunday and that’s why we're acting today at this hour is trying to stop any from occurring tomorrow,” Walker said before the three-member commission approved the orders.
