Anyone here have success with a G.E.D and an online degree? I was having a discussion with a couple people about the value of college prep classes and the argument was that a G.E.D. and online degree are just as good as an honor grad and a mid to upper level college/university degree, depending on how it was applied. I know that the USAF would not take G.E.D. when I was in HS, but I think the Army would. If that is your route to "success" then more power to you, but what is the uphill battle for HS dropouts who go back to get a GED and an online degree? The only successful people I know with online degrees already had a BS in something related when they went for a masters online (work schedule restricted).

I think the gap is shrinking as we are going 2 years on nothing but online. No one is getting hands on lab work experience.

Depends on what you're studying. People in the medical field are still doing training in hospitals, they have to. The classroom portion is almost all online though. And honestly, that's going to become the norm even when the fear of COVID has passed. With technology today there's no reason why you should have to sit in a classroom/lecture hall unless it is a lab, or hands-on trade school type class.

I know a few people who dropped out of Hschool and got GEDs but they ended up going to a regular state college to get their college degrees. They are doing well right now in their careers. I still don't believe online school is the way to go to get a degree but if all you want is hschool diploma then the GED is now on the same level as an hschool diploma.
