Spurs net rating in the 4th only = 2.8. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs net rating for the whole game = 0.2. Placing them 13th in the league.

    https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/adva...eason&Period=4

Spurs +/- in the 4th only = 0.6. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs +/- for the whole game = 0.0. Placing them 15th in the league.

    https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/trad...eason&Period=4

These numbers would be a lot better without the deep bench ing everything up.

Watching the young ones finding their way is a fun

they are about 3 young tall PFs/small centers away from being potentially something good

Actually Spurs have the 5th best bench in scoring. It’s the 1st and 3rd quarters with the starters slow start that gets them in the hole.

    I'll summon my guy Dejounte just to make sure I'm looking at the right thing;

But per this stats page, https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/trad...eason&Period=4, the Spurs are 10th in the league in win% of the 4th Q. I don't remember whether this was the criteria used in the tweet/stat that I'm remembering (it had them #12 then, IIRC), but if it is, looks like they're up two spots.

And yeah, garbage time makes the stat not really meaningful for deep analysis, but it's still good at a glance to give an impression of a team: an unclutch team is likely to be pretty far down 4th quarter stat lists, and vice-versa. It's no wonder a team like Portland is ahead of us, for example. And for the argument being made (Padre claiming Spurs were the worst 4th Q team in the league), it's good enough, tbh.
The Spurs are now 10th in 4th quarter margin at +0.6, and this post I made 4 days ago shows that the Spurs were 13th at +0.4 at the time. The 4th quarters since then have gone -2 (PHI), -10 (DET), +20 (CHI). That +8, spread over the 37 games the Spurs have played this season, accounts for the rise of 0.2.

For reference, the Spurs are 25th in 1st quarter scoring margin per game (-2.5), 1st in the 2nd quarter (+4.2), 25th in the 3rd quarter (-1.4), and 13th in the 4th quarter (+0.4).
So I was about right, tonight's 4th quarter, worth almost +0.5 by itself, accounts for the change. It's more than I thought: if the Spurs had gone even in the 4th tonight they would have been around 14th or 15th in average 4th quarter margin.

Deep bench. Not the regular bench.

White and DJM were huge clutch at the end.

White haters done crawled back in their corner.

DDR can just stay away. Its more fun not watching his stink foul things up
Agreed...games like this teach our young guys how to win...I can't see us relying on predictable DeMar ball to make a come from behind gritty win in the 4th vs any competent team...once our young guys learn how to win close tough games and have that confidence, we will start to look better

Thanks, D, this is exactly what I was looking for. Confirms what I thought, they're a few places up. Nice to see, and yeah, that Weatherspoon-led collapse still haunts me

Thanks for the breakdown. Good to see. Let's hope the Spurs can continue to put out these solid defense 4th quarters.

Gotta figure a way to use LMA and DDR salaries for better fitting pieces before they can hope to challenge.
It could happen but re-upping DDR or not making the right moves at this moment could make a world of difference and make or break the path forward

I feel like Patty is doing everything as humanly possible to be the absolute face of the franchise not only on the court but off as well.

You should watch the game still! You can get it on a page like https://nbafullhd . com/ . I guarantee the first 2-3 quarters will be easier to stomach, knowing the final outcome, than they were to watch live
